# Among the Locals > A playful anthropologist's lens on one small everyday ritual from your own life - a seat, a tin, a bell, a round of watering - read for what it does, the rules it runs on and what happens when it breaks. URL: https://among-the-locals.skillsafe.ai/ API tutorial: https://among-the-locals.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## What it does - You describe one ritual: what you call it, where it happens, what happens (required), who takes part and what happens if someone skips it. - You answer seven questions with yes, no or not sure: fixed order, special objects, set roles, unwritten rules, a reaction if broken, something passed on, marks a change. - The page picks a verdict by a fixed rule, checked in order: marks a change - threshold rite; something passed on - gift circle; set roles plus unwritten rules or a reaction - pecking order; three or more markers - set ceremony; otherwise loose habit. - A museum display case lights one prop per "yes" marker, with a brass placard. The questions, the case, the verdict and the downloads (Markdown, CSV, JSON, SVG, PNG) are free and run in the browser. - One metered run (task `field-report`, model gpt-terra) writes a field report: a name for the ritual, a field note, a reading of each marker, what the ritual does for the people in it, two or three house rules, what happens if it breaks, a placard caption and a closing line. The page re-checks the report against the answers (verdict, every marker, no absent marker found anyway, word limits). - Saved cases go to the signed-in person's account (collection `cases`); nothing is kept unless they press save. ## Limits A playful lens, not professional, psychological or relationship advice. The report uses only the details given; hint words found in the text never change the verdict. ## Sources Built on the SkillSafe skill @rysweet/anthropologist-analyst: https://skillsafe.ai/skill/@rysweet/anthropologist-analyst Inspired by a novel about an observant artificial friend who studies human habits.
